Narrative/Propaganda and opportunities for Diplomacy
On June 15, 2023, the Franciscan Action Network (FAN) organized a webinar on Ukraine, exploring the war’s common narratives and propaganda used to distort the truth. The discussion focused on finding a message that could contribute to ending the war and supporting diplomatic negotiations. FAN’s Just Peace Fellow, Dr. Eli S. McCarthy, moderated the panel of speakers that each provided expertise on various aspects of the Ukraine war.
Peacebuilding, Nonviolent Resistance, and Unarmed Civilian Protection
On May 25, 2023, FAN hosted a webinar seeking to understand and imagine how different practices can be advanced to end the war and build a just peace in Ukraine. Moderated by FAN Just Peace Fellow, Eli McCarthy, the panel of speakers elaborated on different nonviolent ways people are responding to the trauma and violence of war.
